Meaningful Baseball In September: Indians Enter Biggest 7 Game Stretch Of Year

Welp, do or die time. Win a couple series here, and they’re right in the thick of it all going into the last month of the season. Get beat, and we dust off our Lebron jerseys and wait until October.

Weekend series in KC and then 4 games in Detroit. This scares the bejesus out of me. The Royals have been historic this year, and the Tigers are…well….the Tigers. 5.5 games is no cupcake, but with 7 games agains the teams that separate us from the top of the division, the Indians can make a statement to the MLB as a whole. This is the time when playoff contenders and teams that play late into October make their runs. It’s what separates the men from the boys and what the Tribe need to do is definitely a tall task. Pitching has been alright as of late, but with Kluber struggling, Bauer, Carrasco, et al will need to step up if they’re even thinking about getting into the postseason. And, as has been the case for majority of the season, the bats need to wake the fuck up and hit the ball. Zach Walters has been a bright spot, but there hasn’t been too much else to note about this Indians lineup.

Hoping for the best and expecting worst, that’s what Cleveland does. I’ll be a believer if they can take 5 of 7 from both of these teams. If they get crushed, it’s Browns time (for a month).

NFL Hands Down 365 Day Suspension on Josh Gordon. This Is BULLSHIT

Cleveland Browns v Jacksonville Jaguars 12-1-2013

jg12

Update: Suspension is for one season, not calendar year as reported. JG12 would have to stay clean and could get reinstated next February after the Super Bowl

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. I get the year-long suspension (not really, but objectively, yeah). It’s bullshit, and I hope they change the policy, but all in all, Josh broke the rules, the rules say you get suspended a year, that’s that.

The main point of emphasis in explaining why Browns fans and the Organization are so mad, is because it took the NFL an ENTIRE FUCKING TRAINING CAMP to come to this verdict! How could it have taken so long? The NFL (supposedly) employs some of the best legal minds on the planet in order to litigate things like this, and to pass judgement on how the rules are followed or broken by it’s employees (in this case, players). Was the piss test fucked up? Yes or no? Did Josh Gordon break the rule according to the letter of the law? Yes or no? Did the NFL follow protocol when testing Josh Gordon? Yes or No? How fucking hard is it to come up with those answers? How did it take 3 FUCKING WEEKS (and then some) to come up with a ruling on an appeal like this? The guy isn’t Casey Anthony, he didn’t kill anyone. How do you need 3 weeks to “transcribe the evidence” of this?

Roger Goodell and the NFLPA alike have taken player safety to new heights with concussion protocols and new ways of preventing bad hits on players (read: fines). But holy fuck, do the NFL’s personal conduct policies SUCK. I hate comparing the two, but how does Josh Gordon, who obviously was not adversely affected by the depressants he recreationally consumed considering he led the league in receiving yards last year, is given more time than fucking Ray Rice who BEAT his wife, ADMITTED to it, and then staged a press conference where he made HIS FUCKING WIFE APOLOGIZE! What the shit is that? Josh smoked a legal substance in 2 states, decriminalized in most, and if anything…WOULD HINDER HIS PERFORMANCE, yet still outperformed the rest of the league in 2 less games!

This is all mind-boggling. I can’t wrap my head around how this could possibly go down in the wake of the response they got from a fucking domestic abuser only getting two games. Un-fucking-believable.

Great lessons, you’re teaching the kids, NFL and NFLPA…”Don’t you DARE touch that devil lettuce, but if your girl gets out of line, do what you need to do.”

Today In Darwinism: Gun Instructor Tries To Teach 9-Year-Old How To Fire An Uzi, You’ll Never Guess How It Ends!

Replica_Uzi

(Source – A 9-year-old girl at a shooting range outside Las Vegas accidentally killedan instructor on Monday morning when she lost control of the Uzi he was showing her how to use. A partial video of the incident — which does not show the instructor being shot — shows a slender young girl in a ponytail and pink shorts beside a man clad in camouflage pants, a black t-shirt and sunglasses. “Allriiight!” he says, congratulating her after she fires the gun in single-shot mode. “All right, full auto!” he says. Then comes a spray of bullets and a child’s scream before the video cuts off. LINK TO VIDEO)

Note: Didn’t watch the video. Link above if you want to.

Soooo what the fuck is a 9 year old doing with an Uzi?

I’m all for gun rights and the 2nd Amendment, blah blah blah, but this more of a common sense thing than anything. The thought “Yeah, I should be safe standing within 2 miles of a little girl with a fully-automatic sub-machine gun” crossed this guy’s mind…and it’s kinda like “well, you asked for it.”

Educating the kids on guns? Great. Awesome. More educated, less ignorant people with guns is a good thing. Make for safer gun owners and you’d have to imagine gun related violence would go down. But, handing fully auto weapons to 9 year old girls? Gotta be up there with the dumbest shit anyone’s ever come up with in history.

T-Wolves Owner Glen Taylor Rips Kevin Love Following Trade To Cleveland

NBA Commissioner David Stern Announces Retirement

(Source – The Timberwolves introduced several new players, including players received in the trade, at the Minnesota State Fair on Tuesday. Taylor said Love was going to have to adjust to being a third wheel behind LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. “I question Kevin if this is going to be the best deal for him because I think he’s going to be the third player on a team. I don’t think he’s going to get a lot of credit if they do really well. I think he’ll get the blame if they don’t do well. He’s going to have to learn to handle that.” Taylor also criticized Love’s defensive effort and that he got away with things in Minnesota that he might not in Cleveland. “I think he’s around a couple guys are awful good. Now I’m not saying that Kevin’s not good, but I think where maybe he got away with some stuff, not playing defense on our team, I’m not sure how that’s going to work in Cleveland. So I would guess they’re going to ask him to play more defense. And he’s foul-prone,” Taylor said.)

Sound a bit more like the ex who got dumped because she wasn’t excelling her life and was weighing the other person down, you can’t!

Listen, Minnesota. Cleveland gets it. Our best player left on their own accord too. It sucks. A lot. But getting Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and Thad Young is NOT as bad as Cleveland. Lebron left us high and dry, and we suffered for four years. We paid our dues, Lebron (along with Cavs FO) made this team come together, and I’m not too sure of a player in the NBA that doesn’t want a chance to win championships immediately.

But, this mummy Glen Taylor better chill out. Hell hath no fury like a pissed off Lebron and you know he just feeds off this shit. Oh wait, you’re probably pissing off Kevin Love too, and Kyrie Irving, and Dion Waiters too. Trying to lose by a combined 200 points this year against the Cavs? Maybe watch your words. The guy made your franchise semi-relevant the past 5 years after you’ve surrounded him with absolutely NO help. Same reason Lebron left: poor ownership. Gilbert got his shit together, and along with Griff, put together one of the best on-paper NBA teams of all-time. Chin up, cowboy, don’t be so hard on yourself. Things will get better, I promise. Just don’t blame Kevin Love for your own ineptitude as an NBA owner.

Yeahhhhh mortal lock on the over/Cavs ML for these guys

Report: Zydrunas Ilgauskas Is Coming Back

2f6a10530382d3251438789e1c4ee419_crop_north

(Source – If you like to hear about what big white guys are up to, this is the post for you. First, for an unconfirmed report on retired Cavaliers great — as “great” as can be, anyway — Zydrunas Ilgauskas: Tony Rizzo claims that Big Z has been working out in an effort to re-join LeBron James in Cleveland and chase a ring. The 39-year-old big man hasn’t played in the NBA since 2010, and even had his jersey retired last year (a ceremony that LeBron, who considers Big Z an all-time favorite teammate, attended despite scrutiny). But if he can contribute 15 minutes a night, he might finally be able to get the title he was denied over 14 seasons in Cleveland and one in Miami.)

ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Tony Rizzo being the source of this kind of makes me want to believe that it’s not true (See: Rizzo retweeting 12 year old internet troll as sources) but we’ll run with it anyway because Z is the shit.

Big Z and Andy have been Lebron’s best friends in the NBA since he was a rookie. Z would be a nice addition for 10-15 minutes a night, if he’s in good shape. I’d have to imagine he’d be somewhat of a player-coach providing even more depth, playoff experience, and veteran poise that the Cavs want in their locker room with young players who have never been in “championship-or-bust” situations. Kyrie, Dion, Kevin, Tristan, and others could a learn a lot from the big man, and will make the chemistry transitions move a lot quicker.

I’d love to see him on the final roster, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in training camp and in the upcoming weeks.

Respectful bow!
